CAPTAIN DAVE
7/18/2017 03:39:28 pmAnother great weekend of fishing, The walleye are biting on crankbaits and dipsy divers. We have found most of our success 8 miles out as the walleye are moving to deeper water. We are happy to announce an addition to the fleet with "The Obsession" she is a 24 foot center console powered by twin 150 hp outboards. Right now Captain Bill is getting the boat ready and we plan on her maiden voyage sometime this summer.....we will keep you posted. Wicked Walleye Charters will be operating well into the fall this season offering smaller trips as the walleye move back west for the winter. Book your trip early as we can accommodate up to three customers on "The Obsession" for walleye and up to four customers seeking yellow perch. This season we are catching many fish just short of the 15 inch limit. The larger walleye are starting to show up as we are moving with the fish and you can experience some fish Ohio qualifiers as the season progresses. Check out our "Gallery Page" as we caught some monsters mixed in with some great eating size fish. We will be hooking into some steelhead waiting for their exciting ariel acrobatics that steelhead are known for. Keep the rod tip up and land that walleye of a lifetime. REPLY

7/10/2017 06:28:39 pmAnother bumpy weekend on the water. The walleye are finally starting a summer pattern as the water is warming. Targeting depths of 40 ft plus with crainkbaits seams to be getting the job done. Keep your trolling speed at 2.7 mph to 2.9 mph and you will bend the rod with great fishing in deeper water. Dipsy divers are working best back 175 ft on 31/2 setting taking many fish. I would like to see the 1-3 ft waves as forecasted but you can't have everything. Keep the rod tip up and land that walleye of a lifetime. CAPTAIN DAVE
7/6/2017 10:43:18 amWhat a great 4th of July weekend!...Finally we had calmer seas (if you call 3+ foot waves calm) but anyway The Addiction runs through what mother Lake Erie dishes out remarkably well. New pictures are posted on our "Gallery" page with a new official team member named "Scooby" The crankbait bite has been very good with many of our fish biting the standard colors purple, brown trout, and chrome with black back. Most of the walleye this year are running smaller than expected with many fish coming up short of that 15 inch minimum, so expect to release those fish allowing them to grow bigger. Larger walleye can be caught using faster troll speeds with reaction style baits. The areas holding fish are getting crowded with avid anglers trying their best to catch fish, please remember that charters are very restricted when trolling with planner boards out 300+ ft on either side making maneuvering difficult. For those captains that recognize this......Thank You! We are looking forward to a great weekend with those bigger walleye testing our tackle. Keep the rod tip up and land that walleye of a lifetime. 6/26/2017 11:28:16 amWow!...The winds have been relentless with waves in excess of 4 ft and higher. Sunday was a total blow out with heavy west wind blowing 30+ mph and waves over 6 ft. The forecast this weekend was 2 ft or less....I wish the weatherman would get it right! Saturday was our annual Fathers Day outing with many fish caught in very rough water. Due to the rough water we decided to troll crankbaits and ended up 16 miles from Geneva when everything was said and done. The ride home took 2 hours heading right into the teeth of 5 ft+ waves. Dipsy divers are starting to work with very short leads catching a good number of fish dragging spoons in purple, green, and chartreuse. Hopefully the winds die down this week. Keep the rod tip up and land that walleye of a lifetime. REPLY CAPTAIN DAVE
6/19/2017 12:09:20 pmLooking for bigger walleye this weekend Bill and I found them!....The bite is on and the black flies continue to press our patience. We are now fishing a different area and the fish continue to move into a typical summer pattern. Using standard techniques will get a mixed bag of small fish with a couple of fish Ohio's so we decided to go a bit deeper to find that monster walleye (check out the "Gallery" page). We are looking forward to next weekend as Wicked Walleye Charters will host all of our fathers as last Sunday's weather was unpredictable with storms forecasted combined with 20+MPH winds. Keep the rod tip up and land that walleye of a lifetime. CAPTAIN DAVE
6/12/2017 05:58:22 pmThe weather is getting hot and the fishing is improving with walleye being caught in front of the marina. The Midge hatch is behind us and now it is time for the biting flies. We had a good weekend and the high winds helped to keep those pesky black flies at bay. Sunday we had very strong winds with Lake Erie showing her teeth by breaking 500 lb planner board line in the middle of all of the action. We are still catching a mix size of walleye with the occasional Yellow Perch. As always get out early as the action definitely slows down late morning. We try to leave by 6 am but if you are ready to go earlier we would highly advise leaving the dock between 5-5:30 am. Keep the rod tip up and land that walleye of a lifetime. CAPTAIN DAVE
6/5/2017 01:58:47 pmThe bugs are hatching, we had a very "buggy" trip on Saturday with many small walleye and 2 million midges also known as muckleheads on the boat making the effort to catch fish almost un bearable. We made a move and managed to salvage the day with better fishing and less bugs. I have to give credit to our customers for being champions with the bugs on Saturday. Keep the rod tip up and land that walleye of a lifetime! CAPTAIN DAVE
5/31/2017 11:30:02 amWicked Walleye started the season in style on memorial day weekend. Added photos can be seen on the gallery page. The fishing has been good with a mix bag of big fish and smaller walleye taking the bait. The Addiction ran flawlessly through some really rough water on Sunday and Monday morning. We had north east winds followed by 25mph+ winds from the south west on Monday. The current surface water temperature is 58 degrees and the walleye are on the move. This season looks promising with many walleye being caught with traditional methods and new techniques. Keep the rod tip up and land that walleye of a lifetime! Getting the 2017 season started. The addiction will be in the water on Saturday April 29th.
We plan on setting everything up and start fishing. Lets make this a great season! REPLY |
